    If you affiliate to Ngāti Whakaue ki Maketu, please register with us! This will enable you to keep up to date with what’s happening, vote on tribal matters (if over 18), and access programmes, services and other opportunities.

    We keep your information secure and private and will only share your information with your permission.

    This form will give you the following options:

    – Register for the Maketu Te Tiriti o Waitangi Claims (Maketu Wai Claims) and/or
    – Register for Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whakaue ki Maketu.

    The Runanga is the mandated iwi entity for Ngati Whakaue ki Maketu and they work on behalf of our people in environmental protection, education, climate change and other sectors. They are also leading a number of Te Tiriti o Waitangi claims – historic and contemporary – and they engage regularly with local councils and central government.     The Maketu Wai Claims is being led by Te Roopu Whakahaere (also known as the Tripartite Working Group). Te Roopu Whakahaere is a collaboration of the following three groups: the Maketu Wai Claimants, the Marae Trustees and Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whakaue ki Maketu. To enable you to vote in the Maketu Wai Claims processes, please complete this form. For more information go to: www.maketu.iwi.nz.

    We also invite you to request registration information for Te Arawa Lakes Trust and Te Arawa Fisheries – both are Te Arawa entities, and, as a descendant of Te Arawa tupuna, you are entitled to enrol with them and vote in their processes. However, they are separate to the Maketu entities and require their own registration processes. Tick the boxes below and we will send you their registration information.

    Validation Process

    All applications for membership of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whakaue ki Maketu will be assessed by kaumatua and approved by the Rūnanga board.
    All registrations for the Maketu Wai Claims will be assessed and approved by a koeke committee.
